BUSTLEHOLME ATHLETIC CLUB HISTORY

TEAM HISTORY

Bustleholme Athletic Under 14's were formerly known as Priory Pumas. The children started in the Stourbridge League as an Under 7 side.
The teams first ever game was away on a cold Sunday morning against Brandhall Colts FC. The lads started the game by kicking the wrong way, literally. After a first season where the children had been learning the game they finished just outside the bottom two teams.

The following seasons gradually showed improvement throughout the team. By the time the children were under 10's they had a new manager taking over from Darren McGhee. The new manager had a hard job to take over from Darren, who had done huge amounts of work with the children. When Steve Winwood took over the reins, he instantly brought with him new ideas and training methods which saw instant improvements, both performance wise and results wise. After a season where the children finished third and unbeaten in a 15 game run after the Christmas period, things were looking good for the future.

That next season saw one of the teams players, Ryan Winwood, signed by West Bromwich Albion FC. This meant the imminent departure of Steve Winwood as coach. Darren McGhee took charge for a second spell as manager, and has been so since.

In the summer of 2006, Priory Pumas moved to Bustleholme Football Club under the name of Bustleholme Athletic. They started the U'12 season with nine players (mostly original players) and got beat in their first home game by a substantial margin. But after Christmas, the team got some new players in and finished the season in a respectable 3rd place in the Bilston Youth League Division Two.

The next season saw Ross Maddock join the club officialy as coach with Darren. The season was a real succes and the lads finished the season as League Winners, Divisional Cup Winners and also League Cup Finalists. The arrival of Ben 'O' Keefe for that season was a real coup and he finished top goalscorer with over 20 goals.

This coming season Athletic will be plying their trade in the Bilston Youth League Division One, with two new additions; Isaac Cooper from Tipton Town and Jay Johal from stable mates Bustleholme Hawkes. The team have also introduced Danny 'O' Keefe as a coach and will be looking to try and gain promotion for a second season in a row.
